Ken Sanders Rare Books Presents Chris Peterson: Paintings, Photographs & Memorabilia of Glen Canyon & Lake Powell
Ken Sanders Rare Books is pleased to announce our March Gallery Stroll exhibit featuring Chris Peterson: Paintings, Photographs and Memorabilia of Glen Canyon and Lake Powell. We will host an opening reception on Friday, March 16th from 6:00-9:00 p.m. at our downtown bookstore and gallery. The exhibit will run from March 16th-April 18th. This event is free and open to the public. Born in Provo and raised in Utah Valley, Chris Peterson grew up in the foothills of Mount Timpanogos. He attended Kansas City Art Institute and Brigham Young University for a B.F.A. in painting in 2001. He has since earned an M.P.A (2004) and an M.S. in Environmental Humanities (2007): both from the University of Utah. Since 2001, he has worked to manage 501c3 organizations and design programs in the environmental, education and humanitarian sectors. During 2003-2005 Chris worked as Executive Director of the Glen Canyon Institute, at a time when Lake Powell Reservoir levels were historically low, revealing the lost landscape of Glen Canyon. He was in the unique position to explore much of Glen Canyon’s temporary reemergence, documenting the emergence of spectacular landforms and drowned Native American ruins. Original photographs, paintings and unique Glen Canyon memorabilia will be on display from March 16 to April 18, 2012 at Ken Sanders Rare Books.
